    Ulysses 2.2

    Ulysses 2.2

    1 book. 1 year. 18 artistic experiments.

St. Patrick’s Festival are delighted to support Ulysses 2.2, curated, presented and produced by ANU, Landmark Productions and MoLI. This hugely ambitious year-long programme will see 18 cross-disciplinary artists each respond to one of the 18 episodes in Ulysses. Details of the artists and the episode to be presented during St. Patrick’s Festival will be announced shortly.

Curated, presented and produced by ANU, Landmark Productions and MoLI

To mark the centenary of the publication of James Joyce's Ulysses, three of Ireland’s most innovative arts organisations - MoLI, ANU and Landmark Productions – and hundreds of Irish artists and arts workers, have joined together to present Ulysses 2.2, a year-long, nationwide odyssey of creative responses to the 18 episodes that chronicle an ordinary day in the life of Leopold Bloom. These brave, bold artistic experiments will be undertaken by 18 multi-disciplinary artists and collectives, who will venture beyond their creative comfort zone to uncover stories of modern Ireland, framed and inspired by the 18 episodes of the book.

In collaboration with director Louise Lowe and visual artist Owen Boss of ANU, Ulysses 2.2 artists include writers Anne Enright, Fintan O’Toole, Marina Carr and Emilie Pine; poet Paula Meehan; choreographers David Bolger of CoisCéim and Emma Martin of United Fall; children’s theatre practitioners Branar; architects Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara of Grafton Architects; composer Evangelia Rigaki; food artists The Domestic Godless; musicians Fehdah, Matthew Nolan, Adrian Crowley and GodKnows; and writer and activist Sinead Burke.

Over the course of a year, Ulysses 2.2 will build into an extraordinary collection of modern-day artworks - inspired by Joyce’s seminal text, but illuminating the Ireland of 2022.

Ulysses 2.2 is funded by an Open Call award from The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
