    Dublin: A Spooktacular City

    12.30pm - 1.15pm / Age 4+
    Family Story and Collage Workshop with Úna Woods.

    Get ready to make an amazing picture inspired by Dublin city and Úna’s book featuring the Dublin Vampire!

    Úna will share her wonderful Dublin vampire books and will then show you how to create a Spooktacular mixed-media collage using simple shapes, bright colours and crazy patterns. Great fun for all the family!

    Boot: Small Robot, Big Adventures

    2.00pm - 2.45pm / Age 7+
    Family Story with Shane Hegarty.

    Hear all about Shane’s bestselling robot series, Boot.

    Find out where he gets his ideas and how he creates his characters.

    Shane will also help you come up with your own ideas for robots, the weirder the better!

    Marita Conlon-McKenna is one of Ireland’s best loved storytellers.

    Join her for this very special event where she’ll be talking to Shane Hegarty about her award-winning children’s books.

    You might even get to hear an exclusive extract from Marita’s new children’s book!

    • Úna Woods

      Illustrator and author who lives in Dublin. Her work has been published in books, magazines and websites. She loves working with bright colours and patterns in her illustrations. She grew up in Clontarf, very close to where Bram Stoker was born

    • Shane Hegarty

      Children’s writer and journalist. Formerly Arts Editor of The Irish Times, his first children’s series Darkmouth was nominated for the Waterstones Prize and an Irish Book Award. His most recent series Boot was selected as the Dublin UNESCO City of Literature City Wide Read for 2020. His writing has been translated into over 15 languages worldwide and he is also a columnist for The Sunday Times.

    • Marita Conlon-McKenna

      Her books include the award-winning Under the Hawthorn Tree which is set during Ireland’s great famine. Widely translated and published, it is an Irish modern classic. Other books for children include Wildflower Girl, Fields of Home, The Blue Horse and Safe Harbour.
